Biomedical Engineering Experience
CSI is proud of its work with NAVAIR on the Aircrew Aircrew Integrated Life Support System (AILSS). AILSS is the integrated development of advanced crew protection systems for next generation Naval Aircrews with potential transition to all services and other commercial applications through applicable spin off technologies and products. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), Patuxent River, MD manages the HAILSS, SAILSS and TAILSS programs.
- HAILSS is an integrated aircrew ensemble that provides protection from thermal stress, water immersion, and fire resistance for helicopter aircrew.
- SAILSS monitors the pilot’s physiological data to determine state (e.g. pulse, breathing rates, oxygen, flow, brain wave and muscle activity) via sensors embedded in garments, mask and the helmet.
- TAILSS is envisioned as the most advanced tactical aircrew protective system ever prototyped for use in tactical aviation. TAILSS will evolve from extensive lessons learned from both SAILSS and HAILSS, and numerous components currently fielded, with emphasis on tactical applications, ejection seat, and cockpit integration.
